I would be remiss if I didn’t share some of my other sources of information that have assisted me greatly in my personal Bible study and in teaching the word of God. In 1974, when I was at a spiritual crossroads after undergoing a couple of kidney surgeries, my parents gave me a copy of Things That Differ* by Cornelius Stam. God used that book to begin opening my eyes to the revelation of the mystery and the gospel of the grace of God as it was revealed to us through the Apostle Paul. For a couple of years, beginning in 1976, I was blessed with the opportunity to attend the independent Berean Church in Thornton, Colorado, led by Pastor Win Johnson. God used these knowledgeable yet humble men (both deceased) and their ministries to provide me with a solid foundation of God’s word that I have had the joy to build upon since then.
Finally, I thank God for my wife, Linda, and the many friends who have attended my Bible studies through the years. Not only is Linda my best friend and soulmate, she is my reviewer, editor, and sounding board. We’ve had countless discussions over Scriptural matters, beginning during our courting days, and she doesn’t hesitate to provide constructive criticism, question positions or statements I make, and remind me of verses or passages that I had not considered. Then there are my Bible study friends. I’ve found that I have learned a great deal through their questions, discussions, and different viewpoints regarding my subject matter. I have been, and continue to be, truly blessed!
* Another book by Mr. Stam that considerably helped my understanding of the Bible is ACTS Dispensationally Considered. I have read and learned so much from many books and pamphlets from authors who recognize the revelation of the mystery and the gospel of grace as God’s message for this dispensation of grace (and some from authors who don’t necessarily recognize the uniqueness of these truths). A note of caution, however: all books, pamphlets, studies (including mine on this website), etc., must be read while relying on the guidance of the Holy Spirit for understanding (Ephesians 1:15-21; I Corinthians 2:11-16; Acts 16:14), because everything written about the Bible is written by fallible people.
